Our Team

  • Aaron comes to us all the way from small-town Tennessee. With a background in project management and production optimization, he has worked for high-volume appliance manufacturers in both the United States and New Zealand. Aaron's passion for complex problem-solving and blue-sky thinking brought him to Globex, where he enjoys helping foster the next generation of engineering innovators. Now based in Tauranga, he is busy building our network down there. Outside of Globex, Aaron is a family man who loves tinkering away on his own inventions.

  • Angus comes from a background in graphic design, printing, and fabrication. He is a talented artist and the only Globex team member who can say he has fully taken a car apart (a 1963 VW Beetle), then successfully put it back together. He brings a lot of mechanical and creative expertise to the lab. Angus loves that at Globex he gets to be a professional tinkerer, with constant room for growth. He is a life-long skateboarder, a guitarist and a sketcher, and a garage tinkerer who is always hunting for the next project.

  • Ben is one of the Globex originals, having been with us for over a decade now. With an extensive background in production engineering, he has spent time on the ground in factories throughout Asia. Ben's attention to detail makes him an expert at seeing through large, complex projects, particularly those involving injection moulded parts. He enjoys the diversity of experience at Globex, and how it further builds his expertise. Ben is a keen runner and is working to bring an old tugboat (Scupper 21) back to its original glory.

  • Ben has a mechatronics degree, a background in systems engineering and medical device design, with a stint at Team New Zealand sprinkled in for good measure. He balances an attention to detail with an ability to see the bigger picture and is always able to find unique solutions to problems. Ben appreciates being a part of a team that strives to be the best, but do not take themselves too seriously. Outside of Globex, he enjoys being out in the garden, playing football, and fixing/optimising everything he can around the house.

  • Bonnie is our multi-talented office administrator who helps look after our accounts and finance. Originally from Xi’an in China, she relocated to New Zealand after a long tenure working for a German automotive electronics company based in China. Bonnie loves the team we have built at Globex. Ever helpful, she always takes the time to check in on people during the day. She is our connection with China, helping us to better communicate and build relationships with suppliers over there. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring New Zealand with her family, searching for hikes along the way.

  • Brendon was the very first employee of Globex, and we are proud to say he is still with us today. He knows the company inside out, having seen it evolve over the many years.  If you have a question about Globex, Brendon has the answer, and he is always looking to grow and improve. He has worked through many complex projects in his time here and loves the bigger technical challenges. In his spare time, he is working on countless projects around the house and enjoys getting out for a game of golf or paintball.

  • Hailing from Galway in Ireland, Dave started out in medical device R&D and product testing before finding his way to both New Zealand and Globex. He loves the calibre and diversity of both the projects and people he engages with at Globex. Dave is good at thinking on his feet, is a favoured brainstorm partner, and brings a wry wit to the team to help keep us all grounded. He enjoys getting on the tools in his spare time, be it woodworking or motorbikes, and heading out to appreciate New Zealand's beautiful outdoors.

  • As the founder of Globex, Ed has been involved in hundreds of projects over the years, in many different fields. He has an extensive technical knowledge and a deep understanding of materials and manufacturing, particularly injection moulding. Ed has a passion for finding creative solutions to the complex 3D puzzles we are presented. He also loves the people side of the business and has a knack for instilling confidence in those around him. In his spare time, you will find him indulging in a love of motor sports; be it RC cars with his kids or in his Classic Ford blasting some metal.

  • Hugh has a mechatronics degree and begins his career in new product development. Hugh was drawn to Globex by the variation in what we do, and the genuinely challenging problems we work on. Hugh brings an infectious enthusiasm and can-do attitude to his work, as well as a rapidly expanding knowledge of structural engineering and building methods. Outside of Globex he has a passion for woodworking and cars, has previously owned both a VW convertible and a jet ski, and continues to perfect his home-built campervan.

  • Jason got into engineering at an early age, spending his teenage years working in a machine shop as a machinist and fabricator. He previously worked in appliance design and manufacture, gaining valuable experience on the ground in Thailand. Jason appreciates the quality of people he gets to work with at Globex, and the perks our new office provides. He excels at concept development and design thinking, and is our resident expert at image rendering and animation. In his time off Jason loves to travel the world and enjoys getting out fishing or for a round of golf.

  • Martin has a degree in Creative Technology, and a background working in digital art installations. He has had a passion for making and designing things, and a keen interest in how people engage with them. His ability to absorb any new technology has made him indispensable to the Globex lab team. Martin loves that he is constantly learning and growing at Globex, with each day presenting an exciting new problem to solve. When he is not at work, he has been busy renovating a house, and has several new art projects in mind once the house is finished.

  • Originally from New Zealand, Scott is now based out of Nova Scotia, Canada. He came to engineering via an unconventional route, first completing a degree in psychology. This shines through in his dedication to projects that positively impact people; he also has an affinity for the human elements and underlying motivations within his projects. Scott is currently working to grow our innovation network in North America. In his spare time, he can be found in his workshop building his own furniture designs and enjoys mountain biking and running.

  • Steve brings a wealth of experience to the Globex lab team, with a background ranging from cafe ownership to the furniture business, to metal working and welding. He loves the wide range of tools and innovations he is exposed to at Globex, and being surrounded by people who are equally excited by such things. Steve is very people oriented with a wide network of connections and is renowned as someone who gets things done. He is also a talented photographer who repairs vintage cameras in his free time and lends a hand with his partner’s glass blowing business.

  • Originally from Oxfordshire in the UK, Steve started with Globex in our Auckland office, and is now based down in the Hawkes Bay. He has many years' experience working in the automotive, marine and consumer hardware fields, including nearly a decade for Aston Martin. The range of novel projects at Globex allows Steve to leverage his diverse background to the fullest. He is known for his knack for foreseeing problems well before they arise. Outside of Globex he enjoys exploring New Zealand's many great hikes and has a 1953 Ariel Red Hunter as an ongoing project.

  • Upesh comes from a background in product design for mass-manufactured goods, with extensive project management experience. In addition to engineering, he has a degree in physics. Upesh combines his technical skills with valuable communication and people management expertise. He has an eye for identifying successful ideas and helping implement them. He appreciates the focus at Globex on pure engineering, delivering solutions efficiently and effectively. Upesh is a fair-weather golfer and an avid sports fan, displaying unwavering loyalty to both the Chiefs and the mighty All Blacks.

  • Wayne has an extensive history in management and production, with a background in sheet-metal, production optimisation and maintenance. He brings business expertise and insight to the Globex team, along with a passion for relationship building and growth. Wayne is always pushing us to improve our current processes, and to think outside of them when needed. He is also an excellent sounding board for new ideas. When not at Globex, Wayne likes to travel the country in his motorhome, renovate homes, and work on things that challenge him.
