Phononic are a US-based, thermoelectric technology company, who approached Globex to help them develop a world class solid-state thermoelectric medical fridge. This required accurate control of temperature, quiet operation, and a high level of reliability.

Phononic knew that they were the experts in thermoelectric based cooling technology, but they needed a partner to help develop that technology into a manufacturable and marketable product. Globex’s experience with the development of all manner of products, including appliances, led to our selection as the design partner.

Globex worked alongside the US engineers and was responsible for developing and designing all mechanical components of the fridge. Globex was further responsible for planning the most efficient method for building the fridge in relatively small runs. This required us to vary our approach in terms of tooling, jigs, fixtures and testing to suit the specific needs of this project.

Smart design and a focused approach allowed for a minimum number of large tooling investments, and cut down on the development and production readiness time. Globex completed the project in 8 months of total development. Our extensive network of global supply partners allowed us to pair the client with the right manufacturing partner for their project going forward.
